Music promo rough cut learner response

Comments & feedback: I quite like the opening but no music over it… It’s a music promo! The branding/graphic identity for your artist isn’t clear – there is a certain consistency in font use but no strong and clear identity for Diamond. This will definitely help the video production and will be essential for the print. Lack of interview is a major issue but the positive is that adding interview content will mean you can then be ruthless in only using the strongest elements in the rough cut. Think about camerawork, angles and content for the interview element. The fan cam elements I can see the appeal but the transitions into them are very sudden – plus they are portrait videos. Is there a way you can combine multiple portrait shots into one widescreen clip and use as a cutaway over interview rather than standalone shot with audio? The first music video extract has some real effort in terms of mise-e

Statement of Intent feedback and learner response

Comments for AQA:   This is the beginning of a good statement of intent with clear potential to reach the higher levels if it were complete with added clarity/detail. There is a strong concept here which is clearly well thought out. The statement offers a concept that largely meets the brief but currently doesn’t address the print aspect.  Industry element is a real strength with discussion of a small independent record company. However, lacking reference to digital convergence for the higher levels. Media language elements addressed in places with reference to shots and elements of mise-en-scene but lacking the detail or explanation required for the top levels. Print brief element lacking – statement unfinished. Similarly, very little on how representations will be created. This is a key area holding this back from the higher levels. Audience element stronger early on but later seems unfinished.   Feedback:

Coursework: Ignite presentation learner response

  1) Type up your feedback   in full   including the ratings out of five for each of the six categories.  -Research:3 -Music promo concept:4 -Language:4 -Representations:2 -Audience and industry:2 -Delivery:3 Total=18 Comments: Nice strong opening - clear thought and background to artist which works well. Clear ideas on genre but perhaps an old definition of R&B rather than what the genre has evolved into? Again great to see specific songs already chosen for production , shows a clarity in planning. Technical elements are well thought out and supported by strong image-driven slides. Clear visual plans for both video and point. Really like the industries context- Independent label aired at women is interesting Audience-interesting ideas but perhaps needs a little more depth/explanation Presentation goes back to technical elements - more good points but in terms of structure and presentation its slightly mixed up. Excellent Q on cultural backgrounds-not answered here but this would b

Preliminary exercise learner response

  1) Type up your teacher's feedback   in full  plus a summary of the comments you received from other students in the class. -Really effective prelim exercise that meets the brief -Elements of narrative and performance-both effective -Overhead shot of performance good but perhaps goes on too long. Perhaps also a lesson in multiple takes? would shooting more performance create a slightly more natural performance? -Lighting and mise-en-scene a definite strength. -I will check if explicit language will be a problem for main production. -Theme of the room matches the song -Good use of panning towards pic on wall. 2) Using a combination of your own reflection on the preliminary exercise and the feedback you were given, write  three  WWW bullet points and  three  EBI bullet points for your work. WWW: -Good use of lighting  -Good use of mise-en-scene -Range of different clips EBI: -Maybe use more camera shot variations  -Smoother editing  -Different locations 3) How effectively did you c

Preliminary exercise: Research and planning

Image
  1) State the   song  you have chosen for your preliminary exercise. Kehlani - Everything. 2) Choose at least  three  music videos similar to your concept and watch a clip or more from each.  Make  bullet-point notes  on everything you watch, commenting on camerawork, editing and mise-en-scene.   This video has a performance element which is really cool and simplistic as it was filmed during lockdown so it doesn't include much. The editing at the beginning is something I love the idea of the google search is so cool.   - I really love the bedroom theme idea -Low lighting/Pink LEDS -Not many people featured in the video -Very simplistic                                                                                                            -Again i love the simplicity   -Low lighting  -The close ups in the beginning are also cool 3)  Write your  music video treatment  (this is basically a script for your music video). You can  find an example of a treatment here . Scene 1: Came

Media Paper 2 learner response

  1) Type up your feedback in full (you do not need to write mark/grade if you do not wish to). Need more detailed analysis of text. E.g the different teen stereotypes 2) Read  the mark scheme for this exam carefully , paying particular attention to the 'indicative content' for each question. Firstly, focus on the unseen question and identify  two  aspects of the poster that you could have written about in your answer. 1.As Mr Halsey stated I should have focused more on teen stereotypes so I could have said the use of costume and props to construct teen stereotypes (leather/biker jacket, cat ears, red dress) 2.How media producers target, attract, reach, address and potentially construct audience 3) Look at the indicative content for Q1 again and make a note of any  theories  or examples of  media terminology  you could have used in your answer. The codes and conventions of media forms and products, including the processes through which media language develops as genre 4) Now fo
