Preliminary exercise: Research and planning

 1) State the song you have chosen for your preliminary exercise.

Kehlani - Everything.

2) Choose at least three music videos similar to your concept and watch a clip or more from each.
Make bullet-point notes on everything you watch, commenting on camerawork, editing and mise-en-scene.

This video has a performance element which is really cool and simplistic as it was filmed during lockdown so it doesn't include much. The editing at the beginning is something I love the idea of the google search is so cool.

- I really love the bedroom theme idea
-Low lighting/Pink LEDS
-Not many people featured in the video
-Very simplistic

-Again i love the simplicity
 -Low lighting
-The close ups in the beginning are also cool

3) Write your music video treatment (this is basically a script for your music video). You can find an example of a treatment here.

Scene 1: Camera slowly zooms into artist on the bed as she makes eye contact with the camera
lighting will be low and leds will be on

Scene 2: Artist walking up the street twirling and happy (symbolising the person she loves is giving her everything)

Scene 3:Artist meets the boy she loves and they make eye contact and hold hands

4) Write a shot list containing EVERY shot you plan to film AND additional shots to create flexibility when editing (in a music video you will find you need FAR more shots than you think, particularly close-ups). These additional shots can be close-ups, alternative angles or something more creative. I advise using a simple table on Microsoft Word/Google Docs to set out your shot list - you can find an example here (this is from narrative filmmaking but the same format can be used for any video project)

5) Plan your mise-en-scene: what iconography are you including to ensure your audience understands the genre and style of your artist? Plan your settings, costume, make-up, props and lighting.

Artist going to wear a dress on the bed scene (flowery dress) glam makeup
Hair is going to be curly , low lighting going to have pink LEDs of to symbolise by artist is feminine

Outside shots artist going to wear a black dress with straight hair and glam makeup , (dark lighting as its going to be evening)

6) Plan a shooting schedule that will ensure everything is filmed by the deadline. Include when, where, who is required, planned equipment and any other aspects you need to arrange.

Were going to film sometime this week
I think I'm going to shoot on my phone as its easier to handle and take outside.
Artist: Amanpreet
I'm doing a simple shoot as it fits the song so as of now I don't think I need to arrange any aspects.
Boy:Not sure yet
