Statement of Intent feedback and learner response

 Comments for AQA:

 

  • This is the beginning of a good statement of intent with clear potential to reach the higher levels if it were complete with added clarity/detail. There is a strong concept here which is clearly well thought out.
  • The statement offers a concept that largely meets the brief but currently doesn’t address the print aspect. 
  • Industry element is a real strength with discussion of a small independent record company. However, lacking reference to digital convergence for the higher levels.
  • Media language elements addressed in places with reference to shots and elements of mise-en-scene but lacking the detail or explanation required for the top levels.
  • Print brief element lacking – statement unfinished.
  • Similarly, very little on how representations will be created. This is a key area holding this back from the higher levels.
  • Audience element stronger early on but later seems unfinished.

 

Feedback:

 

  • You have the basis for a very good project here but the Statement of Intent does not yet reflect this. Some of this will be due to the fact we haven’t planned the print element yet so your final draft will naturally be stronger once this element is included.
  • For the Media language section, although you mention some shots and locations you don’t always say what the shot will be of or why / how you will do this. You do discuss the atmosphere you are trying to create but need a little more on how and why you plan to use the media language mentioned.
  • Representation is significantly lacking – you need to discuss the representations / stereotypes you plan to create and again how / why you will do this. Try and bring in theory here too.
  • Audience is strong initially but the audience section towards the end seems unfinished.
  • I really like the industry element (record company) but the mark scheme also discusses digital convergence so you should think about distribution and how your audience will engage with your products in the digital media landscape.
  • As mentioned previously, no reference to print brief currently – this may be something you plan to add in January once you have completed the print research and planning but it is an essential part of the statement.

 

Next steps:

 

  • Copy and paste this feedback to your Media 2 coursework blog with the title ‘Statement of Intent feedback and learner response’.
  • As your learner response, pick out the three improvements/changes you need to make to your Statement of Intent before producing a final draft.
  • Re-draft your statement of intent using Microsoft Word / Google Docs.

 1.I am going to add more detail throughout and explain how and why audiences are going to engage with my artist 

2.Include media theorists like bell hooks to expand my representation section

3.Use more media language and talk about race and ethnicity

Film poster analysis

  .BLADE RUNNER ANALYSIS    I think that this film is a sci-fi film due to the use of the colour scheme and the props. The use of the colours like white and green and a little bit of blue suggests that the film is going to be about a powerful man who is trying to save the world  from something evil(maybe aliens). The use of the close up shot of what looks like the main character can imply how he's going to be the main protagonist of the film and the person we see the film through (his perspective) That shot can also communicate his facial expressions to the audience as he looks a little distressed(due to him sweating) but ready to taken on whatever is on his way. He looks powerful. This perfectly enhances the stereotype of men being strong and powerful. He looks like hes doing a great job at what he's doing ,due to him sweating it illustrates to us an audience  that he's putting his blood, sweat and tears in.This movie seems to be set in 1980's.
