Mise-en-scene video feedback and learner responseđź’•

Image
Mr Halseys Feedback: You’ve taken on a really challenging recreation and managed to deliver a fun, entertaining video. Well done! Focusing on mise-en-scene, the costumes, locations and actor movement/expression are excellent. You’ve captured the feel of the original. I also think the shots are framed well and fit the split-screen element effectively. The first 20 seconds are close to perfect in terms of the editing and split screen. You lose it a little towards the end but it’s a very complex and awkward editing task to keep the two video and audio tracks running simultaneously and still making the conversation make sense. This is a brilliant lesson in editing, never mind mise-en-scene! I’m also impressed you’ve managed the technical issues with PCs crashing to still deliver this work. I think the facial expressions and costumes were as close as it could be which is good, I chose to take on a challenge because everyone else was pretty similar it wa...

Sound video feedback and learner response

Image
1. Mr Halseys Feedback: WWW: This meets the brief perfectly- a great choice of song and clips that are totally parallel and contrapuntal. The opening is strong- the audio could easily be from the original film ( I'm assuming its not) and then the switch to Voldemort gets a laugh from the audience to demonstrate how effective the switch is. EBI: the video was only made up of two film clips rather than a selection/ collage but it so clearly demonstrates an understanding of sound I can't really complain! 2. Sade's Feedback: -WWW: The clips were great and i loved the contrast between the music and the 2nd clip:) -EBI: i dont have any Rish's Feedback: WWW: Very good choice of song, great reaction created with the Harry Potter scene. EBI: Nothing, Everything was great! Ashleens Feedback: WWW: Great Media images and music choice - It shocked me. EBI: none:) lucky you.... Krissies Feedback: WWW: I dont know what i just watched , but i love it. Good contrast betwwen the two cli...

Lighting Blog Tasks

  1) Still image analysis Look at the still images on slides 33-37 of the Film Language Powerpoint linked above. Copy the images into your blog and answer the following questions for   each   image: Low key lighting is used here. The darkness in this still image connotes danger and mystery... There's a film noir type feel. The woman may have received some bad news. High key lighting is used here , This is illustrated through the attempt to recreate daylight. Natural sun? There are shadows around his eyes.   # Low key lighting is used. Light and dark is contrasted. This still image also depicts top lighting. This could convey the man is good and evil. This still image demonstrates High key lighting as we can clearly see the woman's face / facial expressions lit up with no shadows. Filler light is used and I think top lighting is used once again.   The lighting here creates a natural effect as it seems like the sun escaping. High key lighting i...

Mise-en-scene blog tasksđź’•

Image
  1) Find a distinctive   still image   and write an analysis of the mise-en-scene. Use each of the aspects you've learned in the lesson. In this still image we can clearly see this is from an action/ sci fi movie. The lighting is dull and dark which gives off a gloomy feel. His makeup includes blood on his face and the makeup arist has made it look dirty which connotes hes been fighting and now hes hurt himself as the blood is dripping down his face. Sci-Fi films are very futuristic and by the look on this still image it looks very futuristic.  2) Find  TWO  film or TV extracts on YouTube from different genres (e.g. horror, sci-fi, costume drama). Embed them in your blogpost and write a comparison of the mise-en-scene in each. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0o4heKCLeTs https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=05qid4p_cfw&t=66s In this clip in gone girl we can see that the main protagonist is in a dull setting in a bathroom vigorously cutting...
