A Level Media: first tasks💕

 1) Why did you choose A Level Media Studies?

I chose A Level Media as I took the course for GCSE and I really enjoyed learning about social media more in-depth and I got along well with my teachers.

2) Did you take GCSE Media Studies (either here at Greenford or a different school)?

I took GCSE media in GHS

3) If you answered yes to Q2, what grade did you achieve in GCSE Media? What coursework task did you complete? What would you say your strengths and weaknesses were in GCSE Media?

I achieved a grade 6. the coursework I had to complete was to create a website promoting a low budget horror film.

4) What grade do you hope to achieve in A Level Media?

Id LOVE to achieve an A but it'll probably be a B which would still be lovely

5) What are your current thoughts about your next steps after A Levels - university, apprenticeship, work?

Im hoping to go to university 

6) What do you think the biggest MEDIA story of 2021 has been and why?

Talibans taking over Afghanistan- I personally think this is one of the biggest media stories this year as it really shows the world changed much at all, society still hasn't changed and people are still unsafe in their homes.

7) What media sources do you use to find out about news and current affairs?

Snapchat , Twitter and BBC news

8) What was the last film you watched?

I just rewatched legally blonde 

9) What is your favourite ever TV series?

The Vampire Diaries

10) How many hours do you spend online in an average day? Is this too little, too much or about right? Why? (If you have an iPhone you can use Screen Time to get an accurate figure of how much you use your phone).

My screen time is an average is 10 hours.

1. Mr Halseys Feedback: WWW: This meets the brief perfectly- a great choice of song and clips that are totally parallel and contrapuntal. The opening is strong- the audio could easily be from the original film ( I'm assuming its not) and then the switch to Voldemort gets a laugh from the audience to demonstrate how effective the switch is. Film poster analysis

  .BLADE RUNNER ANALYSIS    I think that this film is a sci-fi film due to the use of the colour scheme and the props. The use of the colours like white and green and a little bit of blue suggests that the film is going to be about a powerful man who is trying to save the world  from something evil(maybe aliens). The use of the close up shot of what looks like the main character can imply how he's going to be the main protagonist of the film and the person we see the film through (his perspective) That shot can also communicate his facial expressions to the audience as he looks a little distressed(due to him sweating) but ready to taken on whatever is on his way. He looks powerful. This perfectly enhances the stereotype of men being strong and powerful.   1) How does the   This Is America  video meet the key conventions of a music video? Look back at   last week's introduction to music video   if you're not sure. Music Videos can be used to help to tell a story and in this music video the artist Childish Gambino is telling a narrative about how black people are treated in America. 2) What comment is the video making on American culture, racism and gun violence? The music video is highlighting the modern day discrimination of Black people and the lives that are lost to gun violence. Childish Gambino is drawing attention to these crimes. 3) Write an analysis of the video applying the theories we have learned: Gilroy, Hall, Rose and Dyson.
